With only one practice night a week, it also allows our athletes to not burn out on practices. We have college level facilities here at All Saints that we want to open up to our community. League fees are also affordable for families to allow multiple children to participate” The Iron Horse Family Foundation has awarded a grant in the amount of $50,000 to the Achievement Academy to help fund the Birth to Three Program. Founded in 2017, Reliance Medical Centers opened their two locations in Lakeland and Winter Haven as a way to provide unparalleled primary healthcare to seniors age 65 or older. With a focus on a team concierge approach and complimentary services like fitness, salon and shuttles, Reliance has a track record for putting people first. SPCA Florida recently received a grant from The Petfinder Foundation and KONG to receive KONG toys for shelter dogs. The Petfinder Foundation has been a community supporter of SPCA Florida, providing funding and community collaboration opportunities for many years. The Petfinder Foundation and KONG believes that every pet deserves to be happy. The KONG Toy Grant provides enrichment for adoptable pets waiting for their forever home. Almost 2,000 dogs pass through SPCA Florida's doors every year. SPCA Florida dogs are walked several times a day and have access to other fun activities such as play yards and an agility course. Even with all these activities, there is still downtime in the kennels. Having something fun and intriguing to do in the kennel improves the dogs lives - and a calm and content pup is likely to find a home faster than one who is bored and bursting with energy. An SPCA Florida favorite thing to do is have fun surprises ready for the dogs when they come back from playtime. What better surprise than a KONG filled with peanut butter or treats that makes a pup's eyes light up with joy. Being able to provide entertainment leads to happier and more adoptable dogs. Which in turn means a shorter length of stay at SPCA Florida. For more information about SPCA Florida visit www.spcaflorida.org. I've been diving into the new Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) that was passed through the American Rescue Plan. This is a GRANT program that can be done in addition to the paycheck protection program. This program will be administered directly through the Small Business Administration, not through your local bank like the PPP program is. The RRF application is not yet available on the SBA website and according to the national restaurant association may be a few weeks before it is available, but I wanted to make you aware of this program if you are not already so that you can be ready.
The National Restaurant Association put together this very helpful two-pager on the program and the US Chamber did a video where they discussed the program here. Eligible entities include a restaurant, food stand, food truck, food cart, caterer, saloon, inn, tavern, bar, lounge, brewpub, tasting room, taproom, licensed facility or premise of a beverage alcohol producer where the public may taste, sample, or purchase products, or other similar place of business in which the public or patrons assemble for the primary purpose of being served food or drink. LAKELAND MAGIC AND MOSAIC HOOPS FOR HUNGER PROGRAM TO DONATE $50,100 TO FIGHT LOCAL HUNGER3/23/2021 The Hoops for Hunger program was designed in partnership with the Lakeland Magic and The Mosaic Company to help raise money to provide meals to local children in need. For every three-point shot made by the Magic during the 2020-21 season, $150 was donated to the Hoops for Hunger program. The program benefits KidsPACK and One More Child, local non-profits aimed at decreasing food insecurity for the children of our communities. Throughout the regular season, the Lakeland Magic made 167 three-point shots, totaling $25,050 donated. The Magic continued the excitement into the playoffs and made an NBA G League postseason record 23 three-pointers in their first game. Lakeland kept up their hot shooting all the way through the playoffs to win the NBA G League Finals. To celebrate the championship and in effort to respond to the increased demand of local food insecurity due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Mosaic is doubling their contribution to total $50,100. “Partnering with the Lakeland Magic and supporting the Hoops for Hunger program embodies Mosaic’s mission to be a thoughtful and engaged neighbor who seeks relationships with organizations that are making a difference in the community,” said Morgan Odum, Public Affairs Specialist. “KidsPACK and One More Child have made, and will continue to make, a positive difference in the local community as they work to ensure children and their families do no go hungry.” “Continuing to fight local hunger is one of the Lakeland Magic’s main community initiatives and we greatly value our partnership with Mosaic on this important cause,” said Hans Steinbrenner, President of the Lakeland Magic. “This is the third season of our Hoops for Hunger program and we are so proud of this record donation amount. We have seen the direct impact the program has had on our community and look forward to continuing the fight against food insecurity in Central Florida.” ABOUT THE LAKELAND MAGIC The Lakeland Magic, based in Lakeland, FL, are the NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic.
